Kim Jordan is CEO and co-founder of New Belgium Brewing, a 1% For The Planet member company based in Fort Collins, CO. New Belgium is the third-largest craft brewer in the United States and is recognized for its environmental commitment as well as its progressive business practices. Under her leadership, New Belgium has developed a set of interwoven programs that include employee ownership, open book management, high involvement culture, and of course drinking good beer together.
Among its environmental practices, New Belgium produces nearly 15% of its electricity from methane harvested from its process wastewater treatment plant and recently commissioned a 200 kW photovoltaic array, the largest private array in Colorado. New Belgium diverts over 99% of its waste from the landfill. The remainder of the brewery’s electricity not generated on-site is 100% offset with renewable energy credits. New Belgium has increased their environmental efficacy through advocacy and industry collaboration with the goal being better leveraged environmental outcomes.
Kim is a Member of Colorado Governor Bill Ritter’s Renewable Energy Authority, a Director of the Brewers Association and remains involved in a few Fort Collins community Boards as well. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, hiking, trail running and traveling.
