Chris Keyes
Writer & editor, OutsideOnline.com
As an environmental science major at major at Duke University, Keyes was feeling homesick for the Oregon mountains when he read his first issue of Outside, which featured Jon Krakauer's "Into the Wild." The article sparked not only his wanderlust, but a passion for longform journalism. After traveling for a year in Southeast Asia, and two stints as a flyfishing guide in Wyoming, Keyes landed an editorial internship at Outside in 2000. In 2006 he became the editor of the magazine, overseeing the monthly publication and its newly relaunched Web site, OutsideOnline.com. He now lives with his wife and two kids in Santa Fe, NM.
