The Business Membership Specialist is responsible for responding to inbound inquiries from businesses interested in joining 1% for the Planet, and ultimately converting those interested businesses into 1% for the Planet business members. This role is critical to the continued growth and success of the 1% for the Planet network, and will require excellent customer service and sales skills. Daily responsibilities include initial email responses, introductory phone conversations, email follow-up conversations, and the onboarding of new business members. Importantly, this role will leverage automation and efficiencies in our HubSpot CRM.
The ideal candidate is passionate about the value and impact of the 1% for the Planet network, and can effectively communicate about our membership model to businesses of all types and sizes. The Business Membership Specialist needs to be able to articulate our model clearly and concisely, while also bringing a sales-oriented mindset to those conversations. In addition to strong written and verbal communication skills, this position requires attention to detail and a commitment to good data management. A firm understanding of Salesforce and HubSpot CRMs is desirable. Candidates without experience with these platforms should highlight related experience and skills, and indicate a strong willingness to develop expertise in these data management software.
This role will sit in our newly-formed Business Systems & Innovation team, and will work closely with our Business Membership team.

Location: 1% for the Planet is headquartered in beautiful Burlington, Vermont. Please note that for this position we are accepting both local and remote applicants. This role may be conducted remotely from anywhere within the United States.
Please note: Currently, no 1% for the Planet staff members are required to work in our physical office space, even Vermont-based employees. Our team is currently either working from home or working a closely monitored hybrid schedule between their home and our headquarters. Any work done at our headquarters by 1% for the Planet staff members that choose to utilize the space is closely monitored by our team to ensure safety protocols for COVID-19 are implemented, regularly updated and upheld. We will safely arrange for any Vermont-based hire to be able to use our office space, should they request it. We will also work with any candidates to discuss a remote work schedule that feels most safe to them.
