Kurt Weinsheimer leads the solutions organization at Sojern, which includes product, data science and engineering. A veteran in travel marketing, Kurt has more than 20 years of experience in online travel commerce and media and is the force behind Sojern’s mission to help travel brands understand, engage and inspire the world’s travelers. Prior to Sojern, Kurt served in executive and leadership positions at start-ups focused on data, media, and online travel. During that time, he launched and led the hotel division for Orbitz. Before pursuing his love of travel as a career, Kurt followed his primary passion of outdoor adventure as Marketing Director for Patagonia. Kurt received an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management and a B.A. from Boston College. Kurt continues to blend his love of travel and the outdoors with his favorite travel companions: his wife, Eve, and three daughters, Greta, Tessa and Esme.
Kurt believes that the challenges and opportunities we have in protecting our planet can only be addressed through local efforts on a global scale. This highlights the need for support of people and resources beyond those of the “environmentally converted” in order to make a significant impact for the better. 1% for the Planet has a powerful role to play in expanding awareness, buy-in and impact on a global level because of its strength of purpose, unique model, and passionate network of businesses to build upon. Kurt joined the 1% for the Planet board in order to help the 1% team expand their influence with consumers and businesses alike, so that we can help them empathize with our planet’s challenges and become part of the solution. He also believes that the travel industry can and must play a bigger role in environmental sustainability, and that 1% for the Planet can be a platform to drive that process.
