OzHarvest Bounces Back: Delivering Hope After Cyclone Alfred In the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred's devastation, our yellow vans of hope are back in full swing in affected Queensland communities, across Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, and Toowoomba. The road to recovery hasn't been easy. Many communities were already facing challenges before the cyclone hit. Now, with flood damage, road closures, business disruptions, and widespread food spoilage from power outages, the need for food relief has never been more urgent. Our teams are working tirelessly to support more than 250 charities as they reopen their doors to help those most in need, particularly in the hardest-hit areas of Ipswich, Brisbane Bayside, Brisbane City, Logan, Caboolture, Tweed Heads, and Nambour. This is what community resilience looks like – coming together in times of crisis, turning surplus into purpose, and ensuring no one goes hungry during recovery. If you’d like to help, please visit ozharvest.org to learn how you can contribute to our ongoing cyclone relief efforts.

The Returning Indigenous Corporation

Environmental Partner
Eligible Organization

The The Returning Indigenous Corporation is partnering with Plan C (A Northern Rivers NSW disaster resilience and regeneration organisation) to hold two camps in the coming months.

This program recognises that Indigenous communities are often on the front line (both as victims and volunteer responders) in times of disaster and crisis. It also recognises that Indigenous communities are more vulnerable to the impacts of disasters and often live on community outskirts and fringes beyond the reaches of many support mechanisms.

The program consists of two five-day camps providing participants with a comprehensive range of disaster resilience skills, including emotional, social, and practical competencies. By integrating cultural knowledge with practical disaster preparedness skills, the camps will provide an opportunity for two-way learning in the community.
