The job

1% for the Planet is seeking an intern to join our Impact Programs team. The Impact Programs team at 1% for the Planet supports a global network of more than 8,000 impact partners. The team strengthens network integrity, develops systems that connect members with the right impact partners, and helps evolve the organization’s model to deepen its impact. 

The ideal candidate is highly motivated and independent, with strong communication skills and a passion for the environment. They are a collaborative team player, an efficient and effective worker, and bring a thoughtful, critical eye to evaluating information.

Semester: Spring (February 1-May 21, 2027) 

  • Depending on performance, interns may be offered the opportunity to extend through the summer (June 1-August 27, 2027) and fall (September 7-December 17, 2027) semesters. Preference will be given to candidates who are available to participate across all three semesters.

Time commitment:  150 hours per semester

  • Spring: 10 hours/week for 15 weeks
  • Summer: 12 hours/week for 12.5 weeks
  • Fall: 10 hours/week for 15 weeks

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the work of reviewing and processing impact partner applications and partnership renewals for organizations seeking to join or remain in the 1% for the Planet Impact Partners Network
  • Ensure high-quality records management, perform routine data auditing, and maintain accurate databases
  • Support processes that connect 1% for the Planet business members with approved Impact Partners
  • Support ad hoc projects and requests as needed to advance team priorities

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Experience working with and managing data
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to translate research requests into actionable items and transform results into clear deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple systems, including Google Suite, Monday, Salesforce, and HubSpot preferred
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks and projects independently
  • Passion for the nonprofit sector, corporate philanthropy, strategic partnerships, and creating environmental impact 
  • Background in or currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field is a plus
